Ngallery co-hosted the collective art project 02022020.SPACE in response to the international palindrome date, 02-02-2020. Artists that work with diverse artforms were invited to create works exploring the hidden meanings of the date in relation to our society, culture and our planet, not limited to the impact of the once-in-a-lifetime event, but also the attraction of highly repetitive and reversible numeric effects, and the global influence of timezones. The 26-hour programme of artworks and performances was streamed on the Internet for viewers in all timezones. The live performances with local audience were presented in more than 10 cities around the world. The audience also watched the streaming of the performances and artworks in different locations.
Partner venue Ngallery presented the Ising project by vocal artist and mezzo-soprano Anna Pangalou. Ising is a three part multimedia project. Moving between the concert hall, the polar ice cap, and the gallery, the cycle employs sound, sculpture, video, and photography to convey the power and responsibility of every human to shape our world. This project makes visible how our existence –our breath– innervates the national geography both in a beautiful and terrifying way.
