For the third event of the cycle Noise,Silence, What Now, NGallery invited Grzegorz Marciniak. A composer of Polish origin based in the Hague will present his new work Knots on Monday May 13th, as well as workshop in the form of open rehearsal on Sunday May 12th.
Knots is a sound composition for two melodicas composed in summer/autumn of 2018. The idea of the piece was to compose an ambient-like, intimate music work that could be performed in small spaces. The pronunciation of the word knots is reminiscent of the pronunciation of the Polish word noc (night) echoing the nocturnal ambiance of the composition.
The concert also featured two new works performed in word premiere and written exclusively for the Ngallery Ensemble. NGE is an open ensemble consisting of musicians, composers and artists who have collaborated with Ngallery.
During the open rehearsal workshop of Knots, the composer and two musicians experimented with the sound, dynamics, tempo and pace of the composition.
During his talk, Grzegorz Marciniak presented his works, his activities in the Netherlands and abroad, as well as the vibrant music scene on The Hague.
